Dr Patrick McHugh is a University of Otago (UoO) graduate, vocationally registered in general practice, urgent care and rural hospital medicine and currently is a GP medical educator with Hauora Tairāwhiti as well as programme lead for an undergraduate interprofessional education programme with the UoO. He was a key founder of a Tairāwhiti based research trust with various published work, and has a particular interest in education, “heartfulness” and lifestyle interventions.
Morgen, Nick and Patrick, along with colleagues, have been running a community programme in Gisborne for the past several years. Their current research focuses on weight loss and diabetes.
